Monterey Bay

The Monterey Bay is one of only 14 federally protected National Marine Sanctuaries in the country. There are many ways you can enjoy the bay, including whale watching, surfing, sailing, kayaking, taking a sunset cruise, boat tour or fishing trip or just relaxing on the beach. Dive lush kelp forests or spot otters, dolphins or sea lions off the Santa Cruz Municipal Wharf. View grey whales on their annual migration through the sanctuary, visit the Seymour Marine Discovery Center and pet a sea star or explore tidepools at one of Monterey Bay's many beaches.
